Deer density and deer impact relationships

We drafted a report recently as part of our new partnership agreement with SNH.  The partnership has been set up to produce a range of case studies showing land managers the nature of relationships between deer density and deer impacts in the Scottish uplands. The final aim of the work is to produce a user-friendly publication for land managers, due out later in 2018.

Stoat Eradication – Operational Planning

We’ve been working hard recently preparing an operational plan for the eradication of stoats from the Orkney Isles, under contract to SNH.  At the same time we have been finalising the experimental trial we have been running on stoat trapping methods – when we’ve been able to find the traps that is.

Flow Country – World Heritage Bid

We have been helping the Peatland Partnership on their proposed bid for a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Flow Country of Caithness.  The blanket bogs in this area are amongst the largest in the world.  Our role at this stage was to identify all the peatland macrotopes present, using an agreed spatial algorithm, then create a set of maps on GIS for the partners to use during a forthcoming…
