We were working for a client up near Tyndrum recently, on a mountain called Beinn Udlaidh. It has a very unusual and interesting quartzite dyke running up its NW flank. The mountain also contains high grade gold deposits associated with the same rock types as found at the nearby Cononish gold mine – an attempt to re-open this mine was made recently by Scotgold. The mountain is also famous for its spectacular ice-climbing – the images below show the right-hand end of the crag and one of our staff starting up one of the routes.
